Old Post Office Rooftop Meadow
A rooftop oasis in the heart of downtown Chicago, The Meadow sits majestically atop the newly redeveloped Old Post Office. This three-plus acre meadow consists of more than 40,000 plants, a multi-sports court, tennis courts, and a quarter-mile walking/running path. Designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, the urban meadow and pathways divert more than a quarter-million gallons of stormwater from becoming runoff.
Kafka Granite’s Platinum Granite Stabilized Pathway Mix was used to create a firm yet water-permeable surface that blends naturally with the meadow’s greenery, while holding up extremely well for the more than 16,000 residents that utilize this shared space. Our Stabilized Pathway Materials assist in reducing urban heat islands and achieve ADA compliant surfaces.
